About This Breach
In August 2026, Alcon, a Switzerland-based global eye-care company specializing in ophthalmic surgical equipment and vision-care products, was affected by a data breach exposing approximately 292 thousand customer and eye-care-provider records. The data was exfiltrated from its Salesforce environment as part of the ShinyHunters extortion campaign and included email addresses, first and last names, phone numbers, physical addresses, and professional details. No passwords were included, as the data was exported from a compromised Salesforce CRM rather than a credentials breach. The records were distributed via Telegram after Alcon declined to pay a ransom.
