About This Breach
In April 2026, Canada Life, one of Canada's largest insurance and financial services companies, was affected by a data breach as part of the ShinyHunters extortion campaign targeting Salesforce environments. After the company declined to pay a ransom, the group leaked approximately 237,800 records (over 200,000 unique email addresses), including email addresses, first and last names, phone numbers, job titles, salutations and physical addresses belonging to customers, advisors and internal staff. The data was exported from Canada Life's Salesforce CRM objects (contacts, leads, cases and internal user directories) and also included customer support tickets. No passwords were included. The records were distributed via Telegram by the threat actor group ShinyHunters.
