In January 2026, Edmunds, the automotive research and car-shopping platform, was breached by the actor @ShinyHunters and the data was leaked on BreachForums and distributed via Telegram. The breach exposed approximately 146,000 user records and over 186,000 unique email addresses. The compromised data included email addresses, usernames, IP addresses, browser user-agent details, vehicle-related records, and both plaintext and hashed (SHA-1) passwords. The records were posted on a prominent cybercrime forum and redistributed via Telegram.
