Epik.com operates as both a domain registrar and web hosting company, offering a range of services such as domain registration, website hosting, and various online solutions. In September 2021, Epik experienced a substantial data breach, reportedly as a response to its hosting of alt-right websites. The breach resulted in the exposure of extensive data, encompassing not only information pertaining to Epik's customers but also scraped WHOIS records of individuals and organizations unrelated to Epik. This compromised data included more than 15 million distinct email addresses (including anonymized versions for domain privacy), names, phone numbers, physical addresses, as well as details of purchases and passwords stored in diverse formats.
