About This Breach
In June 2016, i-Dressup, a teen social site, suffered a hack exposing over 2 million user accounts, allegedly affecting a total of 5.5 million accounts due to an underlying SQL injection flaw. The breach included plaintext email addresses and passwords. Despite offering a virtual dress-up experience, i-Dressup failed to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by not adequately disclosing information policies or providing sufficient data security, as per an FTC complaint and settlement.
