In November 2021, a data breach hit Robinhood, the online trading platform, as a result of a social engineering attack on one of its customer service representatives. This breach led to the exposure of over 5 million customer email addresses and 2 million customer names. The compromised data was subsequently discovered on a well-known hacking forum.
