About This Breach
Twitter is a social media platform that allows users to post and interact with short messages known as "tweets. Twitter is widely used for real-time communication, sharing thoughts, news updates, and engaging in conversations with other users. In the initial months of 2023, more than 200 million records sourced from Twitter surfaced on a widely known hacking forum. This data had been acquired in 2021 through the misuse of an API that allowed the resolution of email addresses to corresponding Twitter profiles. The outcomes were then compiled into a dataset that included email addresses, as well as publicly available Twitter profile details such as names, usernames, and follower counts.
