About This Breach

Verifications.io, an obsolete technology company with a focus on email services, specialized in validating email addresses primarily for email marketing platforms. In February 2019, this email address validation service experienced a data breach. Discovered by Bob Diachenko and Vinny Troia, the breach occurred because the data was stored in a publicly accessible MongoDB instance without a password. This incident exposed 763 million unique email addresses, with many records containing additional personal information such as names, phone numbers, IP addresses, dates of birth, and genders. Notably, the compromised data did not include passwords. While the Verifications.io website went offline during the disclosure process, an archived copy remains accessible.
