About This Breach
In March 2021, the Stripe account of the defunct WeLeakInfo service was compromised by a well-known hacker who gained control by acquiring an expired domain name linked to an email address used for account management. This unauthorized access to Stripe exposed nearly 12,000 unique email addresses of customers who had made credit card payments to obtain breached data from WeLeakInfo. The leaked data also included names, payment histories, IP addresses, billing addresses, partial credit card information, and details of the purchasing organization. This incident underscores the importance of maintaining strong cybersecurity measures, such as domain monitoring and secure account management practices, to prevent unauthorized access and protect sensitive customer information.
