Setting up breach monitoring

How to add and verify monitored identities so LeakedSource alerts you when your data appears in a new breach.

Monitoring is the feature that makes LeakedSource proactive: instead of remembering to re-scan, you get an email the moment your data appears in a newly indexed breach.

Adding an identity

  1. Sign in and open the Monitoring page from the top navigation.
  2. Add the identity you want to watch — an email address is the most common.
  3. Verify ownership. For an email identity we send a verification code to that address; enter it to activate monitoring. We only monitor identities you can prove are yours.

How many identities can I monitor?

Managing identities

From the Monitoring page you can toggle monitoring on or off per identity, trigger an on-demand scan of an identity, resend a verification code, or remove an identity entirely.

What happens when something is found

When a newly indexed breach contains one of your monitored identities, we send a breach alert to your account email describing the breach and the exposed data types. Sign in to see the details, then follow the checklist in What to do if your data was leaked.

Tips

Monitor your primary personal email, your work email, and any old addresses you still use for logins — old addresses are often the ones sitting in decade-old breach dumps with reused passwords.
