About This Breach
In March 2024, a significant volume of data, reportedly originating from AT&T, surfaced on a prominent hacking forum. The data, stretching back to August 2021, was initially offered for sale but later released publicly. Initially, AT&T denied any breach of their systems, asserting that the data was sourced elsewhere. However, 12 days later, AT&T admitted that certain data fields linked to them were indeed part of the breach. The origin of the breach remained uncertain, whether it occurred within AT&T's infrastructure or that of a third-party vendor. Following this acknowledgment, AT&T took steps to reset customer account passcodes, indicating concerns over potential compromise. The breach exposed a range of sensitive information, including names, email and physical addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, and US social security numbers.
