In January 2016, the forum associated with the widely-used torrent software BitTorrent fell victim to a cyber attack. The forum, which was built on IP.Board, stored passwords as vulnerable SHA1 salted hashes. The compromised data also encompassed usernames, email addresses, and IP addresses.
