About This Breach

In October 2022, the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine (academy.ssu.gov.ua), the educational institution of Ukraine's state security service, had its web hosting infrastructure compromised and its databases exfiltrated. The breach affected several of the academy's sites, including its student/teacher management system, the ISEE journal portal (iste.ssu.gov.ua) and the Vorzel sanatorium booking site (vorzel.ssu.gov.ua), exposing roughly 700 records of students and staff. The compromised data included full names, email addresses, phone numbers, usernames and passwords, the majority of which were stored in plaintext, alongside WordPress phpass and MD5 password hashes. The dump, which also contained server configuration files and TLS private keys, was distributed via hacking forums and Telegram channels.
