About This Breach
In October 2025, the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League university in Philadelphia, was affected by a data breach after the ShinyHunters group exfiltrated donor and alumni records from the university advancement (Salesforce) systems and published them when a ransom was not paid. The exposed data included approximately 623,750 records containing names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, genders, mailing addresses, job titles and employers, together with donor and prospect details such as gift history, wealth ratings and estimated giving capacity. No passwords were included. The records were distributed via the ShinyHunters data leak site and shared through Telegram.
