About This Breach
A database marketed as "China UnionPay" containing the personal and financial details of over one million Chinese individuals was distributed through breach-trading Telegram channels. Each record includes the person's full Chinese name, 18-digit national resident identity card number (身份证, which encodes date of birth and gender), mobile phone number, and — for a portion of records — residential address and a Chinese bank (UnionPay) card number. Although the seller advertised the set as containing 264 million records, the distributed file holds roughly 1.1 million records. Because it combines government-issued identity numbers with payment-card data, the dataset exposes highly sensitive personal and financial information. No precise breach or compromise date has been established; the date reflects the approximate period the archive was observed circulating.
