About This Breach
RankWatch is a digital marketing platform that offers tools for SEO, rank tracking, and website analysis. It helps businesses optimize their online presence and monitor search engine rankings to enhance their visibility and performance in the competitive digital landscape. Around November 2016, the SEO management company inadvertently exposed a Mongo DB publicly, lacking password protection. Consequently, 7.4 million unique email addresses, names, employers, phone numbers, and job titles from a table named "us_emails" were exfiltrated and posted on an online forum. When informed, RankWatch declined to disclose the data's purpose, source, or whether the data owners had consented to its collection. The forum likened the incident to the modbsolutions leak, involving a substantial list of corporate data allegedly utilised for spamming.
