Can I remove my data from LeakedSource?

How data removal requests work at LeakedSource, and why changing credentials matters more than removal.

This is one of our most common questions, and it deserves a straight answer.

The honest picture

LeakedSource is a breach awareness service — we index data from breaches that have already happened so you can discover your exposure and act on it. We do not host the original breached databases. Removing your data from our index would not remove it from the breach itself, from the attackers who traded it, or from the many other copies circulating online. It would only remove your ability (and ours) to warn you about it.

What actually protects you

The most effective response to breach exposure is making the leaked data worthless:

  1. Change every compromised password — see What to do if your data was leaked.
  2. Enable two-factor authentication everywhere.
  3. Set up monitoring so you hear about future exposure immediately.

Making a removal request anyway

If you have a legitimate concern — for example a safety situation, or a legal basis for removal in your jurisdiction — contact us at legal@leakedsource.com. Describe your situation and the data at issue, and our team will review the request and respond. We handle these seriously and individually.

Deleting your account is different

Deleting your LeakedSource account (your profile, scan history, monitored identities) is always available and self-service — see Deleting your account.
