About This Breach

In May 2023, a large database compiled from RENIEC (Registro Nacional de Identificación y Estado Civil), Peru's national identity and civil registry, was leaked and distributed via Telegram and hacking forums, exposing the personal records of approximately 27 million Peruvian citizens. The exposed data included national identity document numbers (DNI), full names (paternal and maternal surnames and given names), dates of birth, gender, marital status, full residential addresses with department, province and district, and the names of each person's parents. One of the largest exposures of government-held personal data in Peru, the records were circulated on Telegram breach channels.
