About This Breach
In May 2024, a threat actor using the aliases "EquationCorp" and "USDoD" published a large compiled database of United States criminal records on the BreachForums hacking forum. The database contained 70,490,161 rows covering tens of millions of individuals and exposed full names and aliases, dates of birth, physical addresses (city, state and ZIP code), gender, race and physical descriptors, and detailed criminal history including arrest and conviction dates, charges, dispositions and the originating county and law-enforcement agency. The data was aggregated from US county arrest, court and corrections records. The leak was confirmed by security researchers at Malwarebytes. The records were distributed via BreachForums and later reposted via Telegram.
