About This Breach
In July 2019, the National Revenue Agency (NRA/NAP) of Bulgaria, the country's tax authority (nap.bg), suffered a massive data breach when an attacker exfiltrated the personal data of millions of Bulgarian taxpayers from its systems. The compromised data, which covered a large share of the country's adult population, included national identification numbers (EGN), full names, dates of birth and gender, drawn from tax declarations, income records and the taxpayer registry. The records were subsequently distributed on hacking forums and via Telegram.
