About This Breach
IEPS (ieps.gob.ec), the Instituto Nacional de Economia Popular y Solidaria, a government agency of Ecuador, was affected by a data breach of its internal application that exposed staff login credentials. The compromised data consisted of government email addresses together with salted MD5 password hashes. The records were distributed through a hacking forum and subsequently shared via Telegram channels.
