About This Breach
In September 2026, the Somali Immigration and Citizenship Agency (Hay'adda Socdaalka iyo Jinsiyadda, immigration.gov.so) — the Somali government body responsible for immigration, borders and citizenship — suffered a data breach after one of its servers was compromised. The exposed data came from the agency's internal BioTime biometric attendance system and HR applications and included employee full names, usernames and employee codes, phone numbers, email addresses, a small number of national ID numbers, dates of birth, gender, department and position details, and PBKDF2- and bcrypt-hashed account passwords. The records were distributed on a Telegram marketplace channel.
